We also talk about some of David's other work, including The Night James Brown Saved Boston, The US vs. John Lennon, The Bee Gees: This is Where I Came In, Ricky Nelson Sings, and much more.
You can purchase a copy of God Only Knows here.

#46 -Banned Songs
Sunday Nov 20, 2022
Sunday Nov 20, 2022
This week the Modern Musicology crew ignores what's good for society and celebrates banned songs! These are the tunes that are too sexual, too controversial, too inflammatory or too revolutionary to be heard on the radio or anywhere else! These subversive tracks include obvious and important things like "Fuck the Police" by NWA and "Cop Killer" by Body Count, but also things that seem incredibly innocuous now, like "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John. Find out what some of our favorites are!

#41 - The Albums of 1977
Monday Oct 17, 2022
Monday Oct 17, 2022
1977 was a landmark year for a lot of reasons: Disco is in full swing, culminating in the release of Saturday Night Fever and the opening of Studio 54, but along with that we have punk rock making a huge global push, the release of one of the biggest selling albums in music history, one artist having to follow up the surprise hit of the previous year, and most significantly the death of a 50s icon weeks before a New Wave artist of the same name makes his debut. We discuss the enormous and lasting impact of 1977 and talk about artists like The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Clash, Linda Ronstadt, Billy Joel, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Peter Frampton, Iggy Pop, Donna Summer, KISS, Styx, Rush, plus many more -- and of course there's no way you can talk about 1977 without mentioning Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

Both tell a similar story but each one reveals different details. How did an event supposedly dedicated to peace go so wrong?
